Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a souvenir ribbon for the launching of the USS V-5 from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on December 17, 192The V5 was renamed the USS Narwhal SS-167 two years later. The Narwhal was one of the submarines in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attacks and assisted in bringing down some of the enemy planes. She went on fifteen war patrols and earned the same number of battle stars for World War II service.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 5-5/16 in height and 2-1/4" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Printed gold silk.
