This is a souvenir ribbon for the launching of the USS Cachalot (SS-170) from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on October 19, 193The Cachalot did not share her name with any other United States Navy ship and was named for an old term for the sperm whale. The Cachalot and earned three battle stars during World War II. The ribbon has a typo on it: the ship's name is spelled as Cachelot.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 5-3/8 in height and 2-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Printed green silk.

CONDITION:9 (Excellent-Near Mint): The ribbon has very minor storage wear.
