ARTIFACT: Beautiful WWII Royal Air Force Glider Pilot Wing flat for battle dress and beautifully embroidered. This wing is from the estate of 316th Troop Carrier Group Glider Pilot Lieutenant Howard Johnson. The highly decorated 316th flew the Douglass C-47 Skytrain and served in both the European and Mediterranean Theaters during WWII. The center of the British-made wing features a multi-colored royal crown with feather detailed wings on either side and standing atop, is a crowned lion.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII

SIZE: Approximately 4 5/8" x 1 _"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Embroidered wool felt, cotton/polyester/silk thread, treated cotton backing.

ATTACHMENT: To be sewn on.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine&emdash;Excellent): The wing shows minor to moderate wear and soiling.
