Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a fabulous pair of British-made World War II bullion glider pilot wings, one from the Royal Army and one from the United States Army Air Forces 316th Troop Carrier Group. The wings belonged to Lieutenant Howard Johnson. The AAF wing shows a crest with a "G" at center and the RA wing shows a crowned lion at center. The wings are accompanied by an invitation to the President's Birthday Ball for 1945.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

RA wing: 1-3/8" height and 4-3/8" width; AAF wing: 1-5/16" height and 3-3/4" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Felt patches with bullion and silk/cotton threads; invitation is oaktag with colored printing.
