This is a distinctive insignia for the United States Army 87th Infantry Regiment by Denmark. The DI shows a snow-capped mountain with a crossed ski pole and ice axe and a horseshoe in the foreground. The DI reads VIRES MONTESQUE VINCIMUS (we conquer mountains and men).
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts.
MARKINGS:DENMARK N.Y. 6D.
ITEM NOTES:The DI you receive will either be this one or one in very similar condition.
