This is a distinctive insignia for the United States Army 87th Infantry Regiment. The DI shows a snow-capped mountain with a crossed ski pole and ice axe and a horseshoe in the foreground. The DI reads VIRES MONTESQUE VINCIMUS (we conquer mountains and men).
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch (swivel part of catch is missing).
MARKINGS:None.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The DI shows only very light wear; swivel part of catch is missing.
