This is a distinctive insignia in sterling silver by Dondero for the United States Army 290th Engineering Battalion. The DI is a crimson crest with a basket-weave pattern in the enamel and reads ESSAYERONS (we will try).
VINTAGE:Circa World War II era.
SIZE:1-1/8" height and 15/16" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:WASH. D.C. A.H. DONDERO INC. (partially obscured by post) and STERLING.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): DI has light abrasions and some small spots of tarnish.
