This is a distinctive insignia in sterling silver by Dondero for the United States Army 440th Signal Battalion. The DI is a yellow crest bearing power lines and reads MAINTAINING CONTACT.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II era.
SIZE:1-1/8" height and 1-1/16" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Sterling silver with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop-in swivel locking catch.
MARKINGS:A. H. DONDERO INC. WASH D.C. STERLING and STERLING with PAT. number on pin.
ITEM NOTES:The DI you receive will either be this one or one very similar. This item has been rated a level II rarity by ASMIC (the American Society of Military Insignia Collectors).
