This is a 1930s distinctive insignia for the United States 20th Engineer Battalion by Dondero. The DI is a silver and res striped crest bearing a fleur-de-lis and reads CONDITERE ET PUGNATI (build and fight). The motto was corrected decades later to read CONDITE ET PUGNATE.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

CONDITION:7 (Very Fine): The DI shows some light to medium wear and tarnish with a few small spots of discoloration.
