Description
This is a rare World War II Japanese Army officer's sword with scabbard bearing a family crest (mon) in silver on the plated front area of the grip. The crest is a flower with three large petals. The guard is very beautiful and ornate with an openwork floral design. The scabbard is simple and has hanging rings.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 3-7/8" in width (at guard, front to back) and 36" in length; blade only: 31-1/4" in length (including ricasso, measured in a straight line) and 7/8" in width; scabbard only: approximately 32-1/2" in length (measured in a straight line) and 1-5/16" in width (at tip); about 37" total length (while in scabbard).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Steel blade, gilt brass, painted wood and brass wire-wrapped guard, silver, steel scabbard.
ATTACHMENT:Rings on scabbard.
