This is a rare circa 1960s or 1970s Police Major badge from New Orleans, Louisiana. The badge has a nice low number (19) on the cut-out star at center. Instead of the more typical "circle star" design, this impressive badge has a head-turning "crescent" star design. The reverse of the badge is marked N.O.P.D. (New Orleans Police Department).
Circa 1960's - 1970's.
Approximately 2-3/16" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated brass, painted lettering.
Vertical safety-style pin.
This is from an old Louisiana police and law enforcement badge collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. TRAEJX14 LEGEX7/14 SEGEX10/06/21
7+ (Very Fine+): The badge has some small areas of light wear/tarnish.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
