Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa late 1970s patch for the United States Navy Reconnaissance Attack Squadron 9 -Heavy (RVAH-9), aka "Hoot Owls". Redesignated in June 1964 from VAH-9 ("Hooters"), RVAH-9 flew the North American A-5 Vigilante. The patch is Japanese-made and shows an orange owl head with two lightning bolts.

VINTAGE:

Circa late 1970s.

SIZE:

Approximately 5" in height and 4-5/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester thread, muslin backing.
