Description
This is a nice circa mid- to late 1950s United States Navy VAH-9 (Heavy Attack Squadron 9) jacket patch. Because VAH-9 was known both as the "Hooters" and "Hoot Owls", the patch shows a large orange disembodied owl head above a cloud, bomb and two thunderbolts. The patch was made in the United States. The unit was redesignated from VC-9 to VAH-9 in November 1955, and at the time was serving on the USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14).
