ARTIFACT: This is a Japanese-made submarine patch for the United States Navy's USS Remora SS-487. The Remora was launched on July 12, 1945, and spent most of her 28 year career in the United States Navy in Pacific waters. In 1973 she became part of Greece's Navy and was renamed Katsonis. The patch shows a duck turned sailor with a periscope riding a fish and reads U.S.S. REMORA SS 487.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1960s.

SIZE: 5" diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully-embroidered patch in multi-colored silk/cotton/polyester threads with a muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: USGS 7718 is stamped on reverse.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy patch collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEDR05 LADIX SABEX6/13

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): Patch has hardly any wear.
