This is a fabulous circa 1870s New Haven, Connecticut Fire Department fireman badge. In an age of small and sedate fire badges, this one really stuns! The badge is oval, features a great action shot in relief and is numbered 3The badge is by Cairns & French, a New York maker.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-7/8" in height and 2-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Nickel-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical kick pin with forked locking catch.
MARKINGS:CAIRNS & FRENCH N.Y.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge shows some light wear and some spots of medium tarnish, mostly on reverse.
