Circa 1900s-1910s New England Insurance Exchange Inspector Badge (Early Underwriter Badge)
ARTIFACT: This is a circa early 1900s or 1910s New England Insurance Exchange inspector badge. The badge is numbered 26, and is a nice example of an early underwriter's badge. The Exchange was established in 1883. It is by S.M. Spencer Manufacturing of Boston. Massachusetts.
VINTAGE: Circa early 1900s-1910s.
SIZE: Approximately 1-5/8" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated brass.
ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin with forked locking catch.
MARKINGS: S.M. SPENCER MFG. CO. S BOSTON MASS.; 26 on front .
