ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful circa 1920s or 1930s shipping hat badge for Watts, Watts & Company, a British shipping lines. Originally Watts, Ward & Co., the company was in business as early as 1885 with its name change happening in 1896. The badge has a white flag embroidered with a blue W at its center which is wreathed by golden bullion laurels and topped by a crown.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s-1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 2" in height and 2-15/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool embroidered in bullion threads, silk embroidered in cotton/silk threads, velvet, cloth backing.



ITEM NOTES: This is from an ocean liner and nautical collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months.  VAJX12 LABEX7/12

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The badge shows some areas of light wear and has some minor staining to the backing.
