This is a distinctive insignia by Vanguard for the United States Army Military District of Washington, a major Army command. The DI is a flag with two crossed swords in front of it and reads HAEC PROTEGIMUS (this guard).
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/16" in height 1-1/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts.
MARKINGS:VANGUARD V21.
ITEM NOTES:This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAL90 LAJX6/11
CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): The DI has light wear only and one post is slightly bent.
