This is a 1950s distinctive insignia for the United States 101st Engineer Battalion by Wallbank. The DI shows a red cross against a field of white diagonally above the badge of the Essex Regiment and reads TENAX PROPOSITI (tenacious of purpose).
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height 15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts with clutch-back catches.
