This is a 1930s distinctive insignia for the United States Army 38th Infantry Regiment. The DI shows a rock with a broken chevron to symbolize the penetration of the German line by the 38th in World War I. The DI reads THE ROCK OF THE MARNE.
VINTAGE:Circa 1930s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1-1/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enameled areas.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post with disc backing.
MARKINGS:N.S. MEYER NEW YORK with maker mark.

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI shows some light abrasions and tarnish; all enamel is intact.
