This is a circa 1920s - 1930s Luckenbach Steamship Co. 3rd Assistant Engineer hat badge. Luckenbach was one of the longest-running shipping companies in the United States, starting in 1850 with only one tugboat and closing down in 197The badge reads 3RD ASST. ENG'R and shows a wreathed flag bearing an L.

Circa 1920s - 1930s.

2-1/4" by 2-7/8".

Wool embroidered in gold bullion and red cotton/silk threads with woven cotton backing.

Original manufacturer label reads S. APPEL & CO. INC. UNIFORMS 14-16-18 FULTON ST. NEW YORK CITY.
