This is a circa 1920s - 1930s Luckenbach Steamship Co. 2nd Assistant Engineer hat badge. Luckenbach was one of the longest-running shipping companies in the United States, starting in 1850 with only one tugboat and closing down in 197The badge reads 2ND ASST. ENG'R and shows a wreathed flag bearing an L.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s - 1930s.
SIZE:2-1/4" by 2-7/8".
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool embroidered in gold bullion and red cotton/silk threads and woven cotton backing.
MARKINGS:Original manufacturer label reads S. APPEL & CO. INC. CORRECT UNIFORMS 18 FULTON ST. NEW YORK CITY.
