ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1920s - 1930s Luckenbach Steamship Co. 2nd Assistant Engineer hat badge. Luckenbach was one of the longest-running shipping companies in the United States, starting in 1850 with only one tugboat and closing down in 1974. The badge reads 2ND ASST. ENG'R and shows a wreathed flag bearing an L.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s - 1930s.

SIZE: 2-1/4" by 2-7/8".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool embroidered in gold bullion and red cotton/silk threads and woven cotton backing.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: Original manufacturer label reads S. APPEL & CO. INC. CORRECT UNIFORMS 18 FULTON ST. NEW YORK CITY.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an ocean liner collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. LAAEX7/10 SAAEX8/10

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): Badge is in wonderful shape with moderate tarnish on the bullion.
