Description
This is a circa 1904 cartridge box in leather for the Rock Island Arsenal. Now a national historic landmark, Rock Island Arsenal on the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois is America's largest government-owned manufacturer of weaponry. The box has a wooden inserts that holds ammunition, and hangs by two straps. Its cover flap is embossed with the letters US.
VINTAGE:Circa 1904.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/2" in height and 1-1/2" in width and 4-1/16" in length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Leather, brass button.
ATTACHMENT:Two straps, cover closes with button/hole.

CONDITION:7- (Very Fine-): The box shows some small spots of moderate wear, mostly along the top edge of the cover and on straps.
