This is a beautiful 1880s-1890s Lynn, Massachusetts Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Post #5 member badge or medal. The medal bar is shaped like the sole of a shoe and a women's shoe hangs from the ribbon to represent Lynn's status as the "Shoe Capital of the World".
VINTAGE:Circa 1880s-1890s.
SIZE:2-3/4" height and 1-1/4" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated and nickel-plated brass with red, white and blue silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal safety-style pin.

CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): Badge shows very little wear.
