ARTIFACT:

This is an early twentieth century celluloid badge for the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a fraternal organization set up for the Union veterans of the Civil War. The badge was made by Ehrman Manufacturing Company of Boston, Massachusetts

VINTAGE:

Circa early 20th century.

SIZE:

Approximately 3" in height and 1-1/4" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Celluloid wrapped tin, silk, paper backing.

ATTACHMENT:

Straight pin.

MARKINGS:

Made by Ehrman Mf'g Co. Boston Mass Factory Milford, N.H.

ITEM NOTES:

CONDITION:

7 (Very Fine): The badge has some light wear and fraying to the end of the ribbon.
