Description
This is an early 20th century Past President badge for the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic in 10 karat gold. The Ladies of the GAR, as it became known in 1886 was founded in 1881 as an auxiliary to the GAR itself. There is no blood restriction on membership to the group. The pin is an exquisitely enameled multi-colored star hanging beneath a bar graced by a scallop shell that reads PAST PRESIDENT.
VINTAGE:Circa early 20th century.
SIZE:Approximately 1-3/8" in height and 15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:10 karat gold with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch and two suspension rings from bar to medallion.
MARKINGS:10K.

CONDITION:8 (Excellent-): The badge shows very little wear and some light abrasions on reverse.
