Description
This is an ashtray for the United States Navy's USS Seadragon SS-19Launched in 1939, the Seadragon had a nine year tenure with the Navy. The submarine was the first one to ever host an emergency appendectomy, and the ship inspired a Chicago newspaperman to write a Pulitzer Prize-winning account of the operation.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 5-1/4" diameter and 1" thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Monel or nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.

CONDITION:6- (Fine): The ashtray has some unfortunate rusting and oxidation on the inside but otherwise shows only light wear.
