ARTIFACT: This is a World War II distinctive insignia by Dondero for the United States Army Air Forces 86th Bomb Group, 12th Air Force. The group moved served in many spots around the European theatre and was awarded two Distinctive Unit Citations. The ring was jeweler-made in Italy and has initials engraved on the inside. The ring reads VIRTUS PERDURAT (Courage will endure). The DI is in sterling silver and has no hallmark.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/16" in height x 1" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with come-under locking catch.

MARKINGS: STERLING.

ITEM NOTES: The DI you receive will either be this on or one in very similar condition. This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VGEX11(2) LBDEX3/12 S(1)BJJX3/17 S(1)VBJJX05/19/24

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI shows light wear and has some areas of tarnish.
