Description
This is a World War II submarine launch tag for the USS Quillback SS-424, which was launched October 1, 1944 at Portsmouth (NH) Naval Shipyard. First meant to be named USS Trembler, she was given a less humiliating name and got one war patrol in before the end of the war. On that patrol she sunk a Japanese suicide craft and rescued a downed aviator from enemy waters.
