ARTIFACT: This is a World War II Japanese Order of the Rising Sun Fifth Class medal. The badge is a beautiful sunburst with a red glass center hanging from a cluster of leaves and purple flowers (paulownia). The reverse of the badge has some Japanese script written on the leaves. The Order was established in 1875 and is second only in prestige to the Order of the Chrysanthemum.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" in height x 3-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver with multi-colored enamel and a red glass accent.

ATTACHMENT: Suspension ring.

MARKINGS: N/A.

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): Badge is in fabulous condition with only two very minor spots of enamel chipping.
