Description
This is a World War II British War Relief Society (BWRS) donation badge. In 1941, the umbrella organization BWRS was created to coordinate the efforts of the many grassroots groups in the United States already in existence providing aid for the British people. The badge is by Accessocraft, and is a petite Royal Air Force wing joined by a chain to a miniature United States flag.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Pins are approximately 5/8" in height by 1-3/8" in length and 5/8" in height by 11/16" in length; chain is 1-5/8" in length.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with enameled and painted areas.
ATTACHMENT:Flag pin: horizontal pin with tongue-style C catch; RAF pin: horizontal pin with come-under locking swivel catch; chain.
