Description
This is a World War II British War Relief Society (BWRS) badge by Cartier. In 1941, the umbrella organization BWRS was created to coordinate the efforts of the many grassroots groups in the United States already in existence providing aid for the British people. The badge shows a crest reading DIEU ET MON DROIT (God and my right), Great Britain's motto, and a heraldic lion.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 1-5/8" in height and 1-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, enameled areas.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:Cartier.
