ARTIFACT:

This is a sterling silver British War Relief Society (BWRS) merit award badge from World War II. In 1941, the umbrella organization BWRS was created to coordinate the efforts of the many grassroots groups in the United States already in existence providing aid for the British people. The badge reads DIEU ET MON DROIT (God and my right), the motto of Great Britain, and shows a heraldic lion.

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-5/16" in height and 15/16" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated sterling silver with painted areas.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical safety pin.
