Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a very rare, numbered early World War II radioman hat badge for PAA Africa (also known as PAA Ferries). Roosevelt and Churchill approached Pan Am to form a subsidiary that would have outposts in Africa, and the venture became instrumental in supplying Allied troops in Egypt and Sudan. Flight engineers also wore this hat bade.

VINTAGE:

Circa early World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 7/8" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Single screw post with disc backing, stabilization teeth.
