Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a very rare circa 1890s ambulance driver badge from the Boston Emergency Hospital, also known as the Galvin Emergency Hospital after its founder, Dr. George W. Galvin. The badge is by John Robbins Company of Boston, Massachusetts, and has presumably the name of the wearer scratched on the reverse.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1890s.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-15/16" in height and 1-7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass, enamel, painted areas.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical T-style pin with forked locking catch.

MARKINGS:

JOHN ROBBINS MFG. CO. BOSTON MASS. and BELL Aλλc (with dash above) n scratched into reverse.
