ARTIFACT: This is a variant distinctive insignia by Dondero for the United States Army 23rd Quartermaster Regiment that was never approved. The 23rd was formed in May 1936 under the Regular Army as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 23d Quartermaster Regiment (Truck-Corps), and assigned to the Third Corps area.
It was later redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 23d Quartermaster Regiment (Truck), again as 23d Quartermaster Truck Regiment, and finally as 23d Quartermaster Group. The DI has a blue background and shows diagonal black and yellow stripes that look as though they are refracting.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1-1/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBX06 LDIX12/11

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI shows some light wear and moderate tarnish on the reverse.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
