This is a distinctive insignia for the United States Army 2nd Military Railway Service, a unit that had less than one hundred men. The insignia shows a lion with an eagle's head and wings and the service's motto: PER ANGUSTA AD AUGUSTA (through difficulties to triumph).
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:1-1/4" height and 1-1/16" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-plated brass with multi-colored enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Single-screw pin with aluminum disc backing.
