This is a United States Army 1st Division distinctive insignia with collar brass. The DI reads A VERBIS AD VERBERA (From Words to Blows) and the insignia show an X formation with the number 1.
VINTAGE:Circa Korean War.
SIZE:DI: 1-1/4" height and 1-1/8" width; each brass: 3/4" height and 1-3/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with red enamel; brass.
ATTACHMENT:DI: Vertical safety-style pin; brass: double posts with clutch-back catches.
MARKINGS:DI: C. POELLATH SCHROENBENHAUSEN; brass: MEYER METAL and maker's mark.
