ARTIFACT:

This is a Korean War era (circa 1950) distinctive insignia for the United States Army 4th Reconnaissance Battalion. The large shield-shaped DI is enameled in red, light blue and yellow and was made in Austria by Poellath.
VINTAGE:Circa 1950 (early Korean War).
SIZE:Approximately 1-5/16" in height and 15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts with clutchbacks.
MARKINGS:P within circle (Poellath maker mark).

CONDITION:8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI has only very light wear.
