This is a German-made distinctive insignia for the United States Army 305th Medical Battalion. The DI has a great design resembling a page out of an illuminated manuscript, complete with fleur-de-lis, hissing serpents and a flowering staff. The DI reads VIVAS CONSERVARE (Conserve Lives).
VINTAGE:Circa 1945-1946.
SIZE:1-3/16" height and 1-1/16" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with painted areas.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical safety-style pin.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): DI has some light wear and tarnished areas.
