Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an uncommon early World War II "Die Type I" distinctive insignia for the United States Army Air Forces 152nd Observation Squadron. Originally formed in 1939 as part of the Rhode Island National Guard, the group had a Rhode Island Red rooster mascot for a short time, eventually switching over to a cat.

VINTAGE:

Circa early World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 1" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with come-under swivel locking catch.

None.

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI has some very light abrasions and tarnish and all enamel is intact.
