ARTIFACT:
This is an uncommon early World War II United States Army Air Forces 152nd Observation Squadron distinctive insignia Die Type II. Originally formed in 1939 as part of the Rhode Island National Guard, the squadron had a Rhode Island Red rooster mascot for a short time, eventually switching over to a cat. The DI is enameled in red, white and blue and shows the proud bird at center.
VINTAGE:
Circa early World War II.
SIZE:
Approximately 1" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gilt brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
