Sterling WWII United Seamen's Service Hostess Badge

This is a World War II United Seamen's Service (USS) hostess badge. The USS was formed in 1942 to guard the welfare of Americans at sea and their families, as well as maritime personnel and employees of the US military and government. The badge shows a red and white checkered flag along with two other white flags alternating between the letters U S S.

Circa World War II.

Approximately 7/16" height and 1-15/16" width.

Sterling silver with enamel.

Horizontal pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

STERLING A.E. CO. ITHACA N.Y. with CBWU union mark on reverse of pin and STERLING PAT. number on pin.
