ARTIFACT:
This is an Italian-made silver DI (distinctive insignia) pin for the United States Army Air Force's 449th Bomber Group. Pin is in the shape of a crest and depicts a winged horse crossing the path of a falling bomb.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
About 1-3/16" height and 15/16" width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
800 silver with blue painted area.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical pin with one-piece safety catch.
MARKINGS:
Partially obscured maker's mark on reverse (V. SARAC INC.? TARANTO) and 800.

CONDITION:
6 (Fine+): The DI has some minor tarnishing on reverse and has a small discolored area at top of front.
