ARTIFACT: This is a World War II United States Army Air Forces 449th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force ashtray made in Italy. The group was known as the "Flying Horsemen", and were based in Italy from January 1944 through May 1945. They completed just over 250 combat missions over Europe and eastern Asia. The ashtray is in painted terracotta and shows the 449th's winged horse insignia in relief.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 4-7/8" in width and 6-1/4" in height and 7/8" in depth.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted terra cotta.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The ashtray shows some spots of light wear and discoloration, with one small chip on one side edge.
