Description

ARTIFACT:

Rare, WWI Kittery, Maine Service Medal. The medal is suspended from a red, white, and blue ribbon and the bronze disc read"THEY DID NOT PASS" above a proud eagle standing on a line of stars, the years 1917 and 1918 lie below the viewer's left wing. The reverse of the medal read"PRESENT BY THE TOWN OF KITTERY, ME. IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF PATRIOTIC SERVICES IN WORLD WAR" Below this inscription is an engraved disc reading: TOWN OF KITTERY MAINE and in the center INCORPORATED 1647

Approximately 1 ½" x 3", medal is 1 ¼" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze, ribbon, and thread.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with Ôc' type catch.
