ARTIFACT:
This is a large, impressive and rare model 1927 Czechoslovakian Air Force officer's dagger: it is even more rare because of its hanger. The grip is brass with portions enameled in white, and the crossguard has a decorative disc with the Czech coat of arms (lion rampant). The top of the crossguard has a decorative tiled pattern. The ricasso bears a maker mark on either side. It is unclear whether the brown suede on the scabbard is original.
VINTAGE:
Circa late 1930s.
SIZE:
Approximately 14" in length and 4-3/8" in width; blade only: 8-5/8" in length and 15/16" in width; scabbard only: 10-5/16" in length and 1-5/16" in width (not including loops); 15-5/8" length (while in scabbard); hanger approximately 20" in total length.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Steel, brass, enamel grip, enamel, brass scabbard with suede, leather.
ATTACHMENT:
Two triangular loops on scabbard, leather hanger with buckles, hook.
MARKINGS:
Hard to read mark; WLASZLUVITS (?).
ITEM NOTES:
This is from a Czechoslovakian Air Force weapons collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-DMM-25-13 LAEIEX11/13 SACJJX11/13
CONDITION:
7+ (Very Fine+): The dagger has little wear but blade appears to have been polished.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
