Description
This is a rare and magnificent World War I member badge for the Lafayette Flying Corps. The Lafayette Flying Corps was the umbrella name given to all American pilots who volunteered to serve with the French for one reason or another, and also includes members of the French Air Force's Lafayette Escadrille. The badge is a fantastic eagle balanced upon a propeller. In places the detail is so subtle that it looks like molten gold.
