This is a rare World War I-period Travelers Aid Society member badge. This crest-shaped badge reads TRAVELERS AID SOCIETY and shows a tree reminiscent of a dandelion. The Society first began in the mid-nineteenth century to aid people resettling in the western United States.
VINTAGE:Circa 1917-1924.
SIZE:1-13/16" height and 1-7/16" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gold-filled with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with drop-in swivel catch.
MARKINGS:606 FILLED.
