This is a rare circa 1900 Hudson's Bay Company factor (or mercantile agent) badge. The badge was made in England by J.R. Gaunt of London. It is nicely enameled with the Hudson's Bay coat of arms, two stags and a fox with a crest above the motto PRO PELLE CUTEM (For the pelt/skin).
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:Approximately 15/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt brass, enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:J.R. GAUNT LONDON MADE IN ENGLAND.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The badge has only a few very tiny pieces of enamel missing to the lettering.
